He Kaiwhakaora, He Uri nō te Awa

Riana

A healer, a child of the river

B.A (Māori), BSW, Dip Tourism
Ngāti Pūkenga ki Manaia, Ngāti Rangiwewehi, Ngāti Tūwharetoa

Riana was raised in the embrace of an awa and three mountains,  nurtured by the elements that continue to shape her wairua and her mahi today. Guided from childhood by her Tohunga of the awa, Titi Tihu, and her beloved kuia, Grace Taiaroa, Riana carries forward the teachings of aroha, manaaki, and whakapono that were entrusted to her.

Due to her father’s work, Riana was brought up amidst many of the leaders and elders throughout the motu, allowing her to absorb the diverse wisdom, tikanga, and spiritual practices of iwi across Aotearoa. These experiences deepened her understanding of people, place, and the many expressions of mauri ora.

For Riana, mirimiri is not a job, it is an obligation, a calling, and a continuation of the sacred work of her tūpuna. Through her hands and her heart, she helps others to reconnect with their mauri, restore balance, and remember who they are.

Her mahi honours both the physical and spiritual dimensions of healing, weaving rongoā Māori, karakia, and the wisdom of the awa. Each session is a journey of reconnection: to self, to whānau, to whenua, and to the living waters that sustain all life.

Rooted in her heritage and guided by her Tohunga and kuia in spirit, Riana walks gently between worlds  healing, uplifting, and keeping alive the flow of ancient knowledge through the generations.
