Romiromi & Mirimiri
As humans we accumulate tension, stress and trauma throughout our lives. This can manifest as pain, illness or dysfunction on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Romiromi helps reverse the effects these issues have on us by bringing balance back to the body.
If you are ready for a transforming and dynamic experience and ready to let go of old issues and repeating patterns no longer supporting you, we can go there in one session. It will be challenging and rewarding and the best way of shifting ‘energy not belonging to you’ in a short time. We will only go as deep as your body and ‘wairua’ (spirit) allows.

Romiromi / mirimiri is not meant to replace your healthcare provider or GP ‘s advice. It is your responsibility to consult with your GP concerning matters relating to your health and well-being.
What is the aim of Romiromi & Mirimiri
The aim of both Mirimiri and Romiromi is to balance your physical and mental energies as well as your spiritual energies, your Mauri (life principal, life essence) and Wairua (Spirit). Mirimiri is the energetic exchange through korero, a form of communion, which allows space to release emotional stressors and bring awareness to the forefront while Romiromi utilises a natural approach to restoring wellness of the mind, body, spirit and emotional being.
On a physical level Romiromi is a combination of body alignment, body manipulation, deep tissue massage and pressure on the ‘haemata’ (specific body points) for the release of any blocked energy to assist the body to heal itself. Working on the central nervous system Romiromi invigorates all the systems of the body to strengthen their natural functions. Romiromi is always performed safely and respectfully. We honour you and your ancestors by starting with a kaupare, an ancient Māori prayer. Wai-tai (blessed sea water) is also used during treatments for spiritual protection.
Mirimiri – The Differences in Approach
At Circular Wellness, both Usha and Riana offer mirimiri, yet each brings their own unique expression of this traditional healing art.
Mirimiri (Energy exchange) with Usha.
Usha’s sessions focus on energetic exchange and connection through kōrero (guided conversation). Her touch works in harmony with dialogue to shift energy, bring awareness to underlying patterns, and restore balance across body, mind, and wairua. Each session becomes an interactive process, a flow of mauri between practitioner and kiritaki where healing unfolds through both touch and conversation.
Mirimiri (Effleurage) with Riana.
Riana’s mirimiri offers a soothing, effleurage-style approach that relaxes the body and calms the nervous system. Her flowing strokes nurture the physical and subtle bodies, inviting deep rest, release, and restoration. This gentle expression of mirimiri supports emotional ease and reconnection with one’s own natural state of balance.
Both approaches honour traditional principles of rongoā Māori healing through touch, presence, and connection yet the experience differs in depth and tone: Usha’s sessions tend to be deeper and more releasing, while Riana’s are lighter, flowing, and restorative.
