ACC will pay for Rongoā Māori under the social rehabilitation category, which is separate from treatment. This means that, where appropriate, Rongoā Māori services can be considered in addition to treatment or other rehabilitation, depending on your needs.

Here are the basic steps to take to receive Rongoā Māori services from us via ACC, followed by a more detailed version if you need.

Basic Steps:

Step 1. Get your claim no. for your injury. You can get this from your treatment provider: GP, Physiotherapist, or other health professional or by calling ACC claims helpline: 0800 101 996.

Step 2. Request Rongoā Māori as a part of your rehabilitation by speaking with the ACC recovery team member managing your claim.

Step 3. Provide our details as your preferred provider: Circular Wellness, vendor ID: VBJ638

Step 4.

We will receive confirmation from ACC and contact you once approval is in place. Once approved, we can begin supporting you, with only the applicable surcharge outlined below.

Step 5. Once confirmation is received, head to “Our Services” and select the Rongoā service you are after, then use our online booking system to select a date and time that suits you. During the booking process enter “ACC Client” in the “notes” section of your booking.

Circular Wellness Rongoā Māori services, ACC surcharge:
Whitiwhiti Kōrero, or Full Rongoā, 120 & 60 minutes – $25 

If this is your first session with us you will need to book a double session, you will only be charged a $25 surcharge (not $50) for this initial booking. After that, a $25 surcharge applies to each session, whether it is a single or double.

Below is a Client Service Agreement – Romiromi /Rongoā Māori Engagement form which you will be asked to read, sign and date. Purpose of Agreement – You are engaging with Circular Wellness for the provision of Rongoā Māori healing services (specifically Romiromi) as part of your wellbeing and/or ACC rehabilitation plan. This agreement sets out what you can expect, your responsibilities and consent to proceed.

You can begin by visiting a treatment provider such as your GP, physiotherapist, or another health
professional — they can lodge a claim with ACC on your behalf.

Once your injury is covered by ACC, you can request Rongoā Māori as part of your rehabilitation. This can be done through your ACC recovery team member, or by contacting ACC:

When requesting Rongoā Māori, you’ll be asked which practitioner you would like to work with. You can provide our details:

Your recovery team member will discuss how your injury is affecting you, how Rongoā Māori may support your rehabilitation, and help determine the number of sessions appropriate for your needs.

Once ACC approves your request, they will issue a Purchase Order (PO) number. When we receive this, we can book you in for your first session. Please note that approval from your ACC recovery team member is required before care can begin.

If you already have your ACC approval or Purchase Order number, you can book directly through our “Our Services” page and include your PO number in the notes section.

Throughout your recovery, we will keep ACC updated on your progress and work alongside you to support your needs, including any applications to extend your sessions if required.

At your first session, you will be asked to read and sign the Circular Wellness Client Service Agreement: Romiromi / Rongoā Māori Engagement. This confirms that you understand and agree to our terms, including our cancellation policy. A copy will be kept securely on file.
